Matthew 2 (DRAFT)

Matthew Chapter 2 describes the early childhood of Jesus, focusing on significant events surrounding his birth.
Matthew 2:1-2
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.
When the 3 wise men found him, they responsed with joy, worship, and gifts. (Matthew 2:10-11)
In today’s world, we frequently expect God to seek us out, explain Himself, prove His existence, and shower us with gifts. However, those who seek and worship Jesus not for what they can receive from Him, but because He is the King of Kings, are truly wise.
God reveals himself to those who seek him and rewards them with faith (Hebrew 11:6).
Matthew 2:3
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
People will react when they hear about Jesus. Some will be disturbed, while others will have their spiritual longings awakened; some will experience fear and insecurity.
We must acknowledge Jesus as the rightful King of our lives and join Him in building His eternal and just Kingdom.
